My 2000 CP season wrap up-LONG!!

LuvRaptor's avatar
Let me say that this year was the BESTEST CP year for me ever, I am sure since I will be working there for the next 6 weeks, I will have more memories to share as an employee, but here is my wrap up of my 2000 season. Total trips: 12
Best Memories:
Seeing MF for the 1st time from the causeway on April 27th
1st season ride on Raptor-May 7th-it had been a LONG winter! Got the front seat too!
1st ride on MF-May 7th-can you say terrified?
Press Day May 11th-CP EMPTY, MF shirts, MF id tags, interviewed by 2 radio stations and 1 tv station, met one of the nicest CP PR people, free food, 38 MF laps that day.
June 1st-my 1st solo trip-night before Coastermania-1 MF lap and then 17 Raptor flights.
June 2nd-Coastermania-1st one at CP at 5:15am. High points-the people I met that day, finally met Hooper, and my CPPC. Having lunch with the GTTP'ers was great, meeting some of them I hadn't met yet (especially Jeff S's wife Dana and seeing their beautiful baby Julia) and of course seeing the ones I already knew from last year was awesome (Dan, Mel, Brandon, to name a few) The PM ERT time was the most memorable part of Coastermania thanks to the riding buds with me. We stayed at Banshee-oops-Mantis until they literally closed it down. It was the first (and last) time I got carried thru the entrance of the ride (dont ask) and lose shoelaces have a whole new meaning to me-no one will understand that but my riding buddies. We rode 12x in 45 minutes, one leg, no hands, no legs, sitting-and dont forget to look at the pretty water!! We were even honored by having one of CPs PR people join us for the last ride of the evening-suit and all! Getting the last train for the night on Maggie was bittersweet, left Sandusky the next morning and although my voice was left somewhere at CP, I had a smile on my face the entire drive home thinking of my 2 day extravaganza, and to this day I still smile when I think of some of the stuff we pulled and what an awesome time I had.
June 20th-although well over 45 MF laps by this trip I never got the front seat-thanks to an MF ride op (love ya man!) Hooper and I got "escorted" to the front car-although we almost wiped out a bird it was INCREDIBLE!
July 12th-this day will always be one of my most special days. Nothing to do with amount of rides ridden, crowds, weather or anything, it was simply the person I was with. The day started on MF - 1st ride of the day - FRONT CAR (no help from any ride op either) and the rest of the day was absolutely incredible to me for so many reasons. All the rides could have closed and it would have been ok by me! Yes-THIS CP trip I will remember FOREVER.
August 29th-hangin with my 11 yr old-seeing her face when she realized that we got the front car to MF was great-she just loved it! Changing and riding the water rides was awesome too-that was the 1st time I had done that! (hi Corey!) Meeting up with Hooper again, riding MF and our favorite bird of prey together was great. The barefoot ride was especially fun-not just cause we were barefoot (some of us anyway-Hooper opted to keep his socks on) but because that was my 301st lifetime flight.
My saddest 2000 memories:
When someone burned a hole in my tondeau cover,
fighting with some punks who were knocking over the trash cans cause they were po'd MF closed cause of thunder and rain, every time the park closed for the night, every time I was heading home again. Missin my CPPC.
To those of you I knew or just met-it was awesome seeing you and riding with you, thank you for making some of these memories for me and I look forward to many many more since I can safely assume I will be truckin up there every 2 weeks in 2001 too! Starting this Friday I will be working at CP as a ride op (rumor has it I am either on Raptor or MF) be sure you say hi when you see me and of course keep all arms, hands, and legs inside the car at all times!
(until you're out of the station anyway!!)
CU@CP!
Love,
Jo

Those are some memories that should last a lifetime!
This year was my best yet also Jo. Each time I have gone to CP there has almost always been a fun story to remember. Like our shoelace incident. Or our ID ride, our DT ride, our MS ride, and even our MR ride. (and there are more) I also do still smile when I think back on coastermania. That was the biggest and longest riding day I have ever done, but riding with you on Banshee refreshed me. Knowing when I go to CP that another great story will happen when I meet up with you (or any GTTP member) has been a blast. My saddest memory will be closing day, saying goodby until next year.

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
Man, you guys are so lucky. I live in Florida, and I can only dream until I am in college and I get to work at the Point during the summer. I'm only in 10th grade! My only memories of Cedar Point began on June 7th, and ended on June 7th. For my final ride of MF of the year, I got the front row at night (with sunglasses, so I couldn't see at all) :) That will last in my mind though for a LONG LONG time. LuvRaptor, I envy you so much...working on MF or Raptor would be heaven on earth. My mom asked me, "well, wouldn't you get tired of MF?" The answer was simply, "never".

If you lost your voice, you had a good day coasting.
How do all you who live in FL go there so often. I live in FL, and have never been there(until next summer that is*GRIN*):(:(:(:(:(
