Something new....

I was at CP yesterday with my wife and kids and noticed some renovation going on in the old Pirate ride. The area was roped off with a sign mentioning Boo-Hill. Anyone know more details?

They are putting in a George Carlin memorial and an ice cream shop called Carlin's Cone's

Re: Something new....

Wonder if they're moving the House on Boo Hill walkthrough from the Dodgem pavilion to the old Pirate Ride building? This way the won't lose their only bumper car ride during the second peak season.

Re: Something new....

That would make sense, Tim. Funny; ever since Halloweekends started I always expected them to use that building for some sort of "walk-through" attraction, but I know it gets used for storage, etc.

Anyone know if any of the old animatronic characters are still in there? Or did they all get scrapped? They could make use of some of those!

They are relocating the Boo Hill walkthrough from the Dodgem to the Pirate Ride building. That's what the sign in front of the Pirate Ride building says.

Re: Something new....

WooHoo I wonder if my middle school girlfriend would want to go back to CP for a little Pirate Ride reminiscing...making out while she constantly slaps my hands off her boobs (she knows she like it )

Re: Something new....

Disaster Transport is a coaster in a box that needs to be updated or tossed in the scrap yard where it belongs. Now pirate ride, that one was not as tacky to look at and at least the story line made sense!!

Re: Something new....

CP definitely needs some sort of dark ride -- whether or not they someday remove Disaster Transport. I don't know why the chain seems to shy away from any area of amusement where they know Disney can do it better. The Mouse is not the yardstick, it's whether or not guests enjoy the experience. There are plenty of examples of dark rides (Ghostwood Estates at Kennywood being merely the latest) that are fun and entertaining in their own right. Given the size of CP, in fact, I would go so far as to say they need at least two or three dark rides. Now that would be a fantastic complement to their unrivaled coaster lineup.

Re: Something new....

^^ while it would be good to see a new dark ride at CP with Diaster Transport hopefully being removed (I have a thing against DT), I would hope that Cedar Point would go with a Giant Huss Top Spin similar to Tomb Raider or The Crypt at KI, but make CP's much bigger and better. Still use the building though...

Re: Something new....

Speaking of something new....

CP does need something new to keep us coming back. My girlfriend and I...

While we love CP and the collection they have of coasters. We are increasingly becoming more interested in other parks with rides that CP doesn't offer.

To keep us as a returning customer I really wish the Wicked Twister midway would have a major attraction put in such as a dive machine or euro-fighter.

A dive machine by the water there would be sweeeeeeet.

Re: Something new....

Although there are coasters at other parks that I would enjoy riding, I am a CP lover at heart and always will be. I don't think that they need to do anything different to keep me coming back. Cheaper food prices would be nice though...

Re: Something new....

To ride Apollo's Chariot, a floorless dive machine might.....might be worth the drive to BGE.

Re: Something new....

Eurofighter - yes
Dive Machine - no

I haven't heard enough good things about dive machines, and what I have heard hasn't exactly been that good either.

Eurofighters on the other hand (with my one experience being Mystery Mine) are great. I would love to see one put in at the point, I just don't think the WT midway is the right place for one.

Re: Something new....

I haven't been to either BG park since they put in their dive machines, but I understand they're not much more than one-trick ponies (sound like anything else in Ohio?). Except for the dive(s), it sounds like they're sluggish and relatively uninteresting.

Now Mystery Mine, however, that's a nice ride. A little too broken up for my taste, never really builds up much sustained momentum, but still really fun. It just seems like a Eurofighter would be a little bit too much like Maverick -- you know, the beyond vertical drop, low to the ground trackage, quick transitions, etc.

Re: Something new....

Sure have been a lot of people complaining about CP and
what they DON'T have here lately. All of you out there
who wanna go elsewhere, go right ahead. Makes the lines
shorter for those of us who do love it.

Re: Something new....

^sorry but NONE OF US ARE COMPLAINING and most if not all of us are die hard Cedar Point fans (that's kinda why we joined the forums ). All we're doing is suggesting ways to make the park better in our opinion. Maybe Cedar Point is getting the B&M Flyer that everyone knew is coming :D

Apollo's Chariot is a B&M Hyper, not a dive machine. Griffon is the dive machine at BGE. However Apollo's Chariot is a fantastic ride and is the best B&M hyper I've been on to date.

Re: Something new....

That would turn everything right around wouldn't it. You should probably add another 50 or 60 acres of land to your list too. I know Cedar Point isn't running out of room, but when you ask for 8 new major attractions, it sure looks that way.

We'll miss you MrScott

Re: Something new....

Just ask Six Flags what happens when you dump a bunch of rides into a park in hodge-podge fashion.
