Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

So anyone who has ridden DT in the last couple of days notice the little changes ongoing inside the ride? How about the new queue music to set the mood? I think Disaster is an underrated ride that deserves it's right to be a cool coaster. Where else are you gonna ride a bobsled like that? Do you think CP will be able to help it's case to keep it an enjoyable family coaster without reprogramming the 1990 effects?

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

Well, it's nice to hear it's not being neglected. I haven't ridden it yet this year. What else has been added?

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

What all has changed? When I went on Memorial Day weekend I didn't see anything new in the ride.

It would be nice to see some improvements though.

I'll be there tomorrow and I'm sure my daughter will want to go on it.

Don't spend another dime on it. To me it is like an old house on a valuable piece of property. Make sure it is livable but don't invest a lot when tearing it down and rebuilding would be a better investment.

It is time to use the beachfront location of that part of the park to its full potential.

It still sucks. It's still ugly. It still needs to be torn down as soon as possible.

Yessir. Me and my six year old. DT is usually one of our first hits going in the gate.

I see you're going? Cool, maybe we'll see you.

What's your kids favorite thing to do at Cedar Point?

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

The things I noticed during CM:
-Someone went through the queue with a duster (especially in the final room and the moving crates above)
-Alaska is lit again, although I did not see the bear
-New Sign in the Exit Station: "Thank you for Riding Disaster Transport" replacing the "Welcome to Alaska" sign.

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

We were there yesterday, and I noticed the music too. Although the queue stinks, and the building is ugly...I think that DT is a staple to CP. At least for me and my sister it is. Yesterday it broke down while we were in line. But we waited, because we had to ride it at least once. It's not the biggest or best roller coaster. But it is a nice one for little kids, and beginners.

I thought it was funny that everyone we were waiting in line with for DT, we saw later riding MF with us. It just shows you that a lot of people at the park (who do not get to go a lot) like the variety.

I have not heard the new queue music, but did notice other changes. I did see the exit sign and the Alaska sign back. Also the ENTIRE track was lit up, wheras lasdt year it was mostly 80% in the dark, or somedays the entire track pitch black. If this is true it should make the 3D experience better, not like anybody buys those glasses anyway! Is this accurate or just a coincidence every time i am there?

Factory, her favorite thing used to be Peanuts Playground, believe it or not. Now her new #1 is playing in the Peanuts area of the Snoopy store. I only let her do it once per visit, usually near the end of the evening when I'm ready to sit down in the AC and let her run.

As far as coasters go, her faves are DT, ID, Gemini, BS, and Wildcat (with Magnum climbing the charts!)

All the tracer lights or whatever you want to call them on the lift hill work. In the past half of them were burnt out. I honestly don't think it makes much of a difference. The hole at the bottom of the lift hill seemed to be covered up - you know the one where you could see sunlight right thru the side wall.

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

That there has to be a good variety of rides and stuff that's kid friendly is not the issue. Iron Dragon, Mine Ride, Woodstock, etc., are all great rides and round out the collection. But DT comes at the expense of the visual aesthetic for that entire part of the park, the only part of the lake you can see directly from inside the park on the ground. Wicked Twister and Giant Wheel were great starts to making that area as kick ass as possible. There's one thing left that has to change, and it's the warehouse on stilts.

Honestly, I don't care if they put a kiddie coaster or the world's tallest, fastest cheese-on-a-stick stand there, so long as it celebrates the lakefront.

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

I understand what you are saying Jeff. I just personally would be sad to see it go. DT always reminds me of my first time at Cedar Point. Everything was magical that day.

Ensign, that is cute that your daughter likes all of those coasters. I cannot wait until my son is old enough so I can let him ride. He is only 2. But the other day the CP commerical came on (the 17/75 rides are coasters one), and I swear he said, "whooo!" lol.

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

One thing I noticed when I rode it on Opening Weekend was that the park left up the Haunted House decorations in the queue from last HalloWeekends instead of tearing them down. I distinctly remember a room in the queue from last year with a conveyor belt hanging from the ceiling that is now obscured with all the Haunted House stuff. The ride also seemed to be 'brighter' and had fewer moments of total blackout.

Re: Disaster Transport...ch ch ch changes

^arw, the Halloweekends decorations are always there, but so is the conveyor belt room. They are separate rooms.
