Eating in Sandusky - where to?

So i printed off a list of Restaurants in sandusky and addresses and reviews. We would like to hit up a couple of returaunts while we are there. Although the list is quite large and gives some reviews, its really not that helpfull. I was wondering if i could maybe get some suggestions for any Must See establishments to visit durring our stay. Were not really fussy when it comes to food, but it is a group of younger people ( 23-26y/o) so anything fun would be awesome. Your input is greatly appreciated.

BW3 = open late, beer, and beer specials.

Applebees = open late, beer, and some beer specials

Steak and Shake = open 24x7

East of Chicago = close to park, $6.99 buffet
if you feel like the park is ripping you off.

Nothing is "fun" in Sandusky for food....except Put-In-Bay I hear.
Put-In-Bay is Sandusky's "bar area". We're talking drunk driving on golf carts here. Just imagine the possibilities.
Sandusky has a horrible problem with restaurants closing too early considering the park closing time. We find ourselves hard pressed to visit any other dining establishment.

Ryan's is my family's stop for food. It is all you can eat and the food is great. The have a breakfast buffet that has food to satisfy every one. The evening buffet often has steak cooked to order. It is very good. And the have a great variety. Price is reasonable. We usually spent about $40 for 3 adults and 2 kids for dinner.

Don't get your hopes up on Chett and Matt's pizza..........

I might be spoiled, but there are countless other pizza places I can name (local) that serve up better pie. Their pizza is ok, but noting to write home about..

Last season I went to Chet and Matt's after hearing all of the hype around here and was really disappointed. Maybe I'm spoiled because I live in Windsor, Ontario the pizza capital of Canada and am biased because I make some of the best pizza in the city where I work (I'm not being cocky, but I've heard it from several people). But the pizza was really not that good and it took forever to get during a very unbusy time.

I'd have two suggestions. Both are kind of off the beaten path for tourists, but are really good in different ways.
First, Gerold's Old Dutch tavern is on East Perkins. It's a pretty fun local bar with a sand volleyball court and Bald Eagle's nest in the back and beer by the yard and great steakburgers inside. Thursday night is create your own steakburger night if you're in the area. From 250, go between the mall and the target/old navy complex and turn left on East Perkins.

If you're looking for something classier and slightly more expensive, you can't beat Damon's at Battery Park. (There are other Damon's in the chain but none of them have this view) Located on Meigs street, this restaurant is right across the harbor from the point and has a great 2nd story view right across the water of the park. Getting there is just confusing enough that many run-of-the-mill tourists don't look for it, but the food and atmosphere are second to none.

The Damon's in Battery Park has good food and great views of CP across the bay. Not really sure why it doesn't get more mention. It's quite a bit different (more upscale?) than other Damon's that I've been to.

I'm forced to agree that while I usually do recommend Chet and Matt's, it is really only special by Sandusky standards. There is certainly better pizza in other cities.

If your looking for a good pizza place try Mona Pizza in downtown Sandusky on Columbus Ave. Really good pizza with gourmet toppings, where else can you get rattle snake on your pizza, and decent prices on top of that. And the best part is they sell it by the slice!

If you go into town towards the jet express there is a little bar called the Sail Inn. I went there for lunch quite a few times and loved it. The food is huge and only about 5 bucks. Thursdays is wing night there.

If you go down 250 past Roeder and the mall there is a hotel that has the Brown Derby Inn. That is the best restraunt i have ever eaten at in sandusky. For 2 people it is about 50 bucks, but the wood fired steaks are well worth it.

Anyone know of any Seafood Buffets close to Cedar Point?

I checked out Mona Pizza online, and am looking forward to trying it out. I hope they will deliver to the Hotel Breakers. I love artichoke hearts on pizza....mmm.mmm...good.

CP has that restaurant right on the water by Sandcastle Suites I think it is that has a seafood buffet (for like $40)

Yes, I would recommend Damon's. nice break from the park. Has anyone been to the waterfront restaurant at Lyman Harbor? 1615 First St. 1/2 mile west of Cedar Point drive.

Erm, I believe they can't refund your toll fee at all Point restaurants. One of my favourite vegetarian places is Rye Beach Deli in Huron, Ohio. It is about a 10-15 min drive from the park, but great food.

Chet & Matt's is good and has a fun atmosphere with all of the HS sports stuff on the walls, but the actual pizza is better at Cameo Pizza on Monroe Street. It gets my vote for best in Sandusky.
