Opening Weekend (Sat Thru Mon)

So this was my first opening weekend at CP, AND my first meeting with some fellow point buzzers, and it was absolutely fantastic. I'll try to make this short..

Saturday: I met up with Mark and Adam's group at the soak city entrance (thanks!) and went straight to TTD with them, and we were lucky enough to get on the first train of the season, and my first rollback! Incredible. Then we did it again right after that, but it took far too long considering the short line. After that Saturday was pretty rough. Great weather, but a lot of rides were down for most of the day, causing long lines virtually everywhere. Notes: Toft's has a nice little building there, but Josh's dishwater ice cream soda really turned me off.... haha.

Sunday: This may have been my best day at CP ever, minus the morning. It started off dismally with a solid downpour from 9 am until about 12:30 pm, but they were running MF on and off during the showers, so I managed to get 5 rides on millie in the morning. But then the rain stopped, and the park was absolutely empty. Maverick came to life and I got a ride on that with Adam and Josh M.'s group, and then we simply dominated the park. We even got a re-ride on Ocean Motion! After knocking out virtually everything, I did another Millennium Marathon in the evening by myself and got 6 more rides in. Then to close the night I got the last train on Dragster, which was down for much of the day, and got my second rollback!

Monday: I only stayed until 4:00 because I had to drive back to chicago today, but the park was empty as expected. A few very light showers in the morning, but nothing bad. I didn't see Maverick running all day again, and I did another Millennium Marathon bringing my total to 21 laps for the weekend! I missed out on Dragster today too, but that's okay. Met up with Josh and Adam's group for the 3rd straight day, and we knocked out a lot of riding again. I was kind of disappointed that Magnum was still only running single train operation, but I still got a ride in. Notes: Chaos (alternate pronciation KOUSS) broke down while we were on it, that was really funny. And Disaster Transport is not any better, even with the new strobe light, haha.

Overall: First 2 rollbacks of my life, and 21 more laps on Millennium Force. That alone makes this trip fantastic. Not to mention meeting some new friends. Had a great time meeting Adam, Josh M., Mark Small, Loopy, John, outward bound, and others. I'm planning on making at least one more trip out there this year, hopefully a few. But I'm going to try to make this a tradition because this was my best weekend at CP to date!

Re: Opening Weekend (Sat Thru Mon)

thats awesome that you managed to get the first two rollbacks of your life in the same weekend. and i cant believe you got 21 MF rides in because of the rain, i wanted to get about ten but it kept raining on and off and kept shutting down while we were in line.

until the 5-24-08 MF had my #1 spot, but i think maverick took over

Re: Opening Weekend (Sat Thru Mon)

Yeah It was fun meeting you and a few other people from Pointbuzz. We'll have to set up another meeting with all the members again sometime during the summer. I'd have to agree that this one of the best times I've been to Cedar Point in a long time. One of the best opening days I've been to in a long time as well.

I think the oldest guy in that picture is exceptionally good looking.

Re: Opening Weekend (Sat Thru Mon)

lol! Mark, I never renege on an unintentional compliment, so you're welcome. But the second oldest guy in that picture is drop dead gorgeous.

Loopy, I thought the rumors about your demise were greatly exaggerated . . .

Re: Opening Weekend (Sat Thru Mon)

Good job on the picture TTD 120. Even though I met everyone on Saturday, you'll have to forgive me because I forgot a few names of people I met in the picture. Can someone respond to this and tell me everyone who is the picture? PLEASE!

Re: Opening Weekend (Sat Thru Mon)

I’m in the white shirt behind the sign. It was great meeting up with everyone even if there was no cake and I didn’t get a ride on Maverick. Front seat on the last train of the night on Dragster made for a great end to the day.
