My days of waiting...

Have any of you ever gotten fairly addicted over the excitement of going to CP? Well, I have. I can remember back in the good ol' days of being really young and youthful (not that i'm not youthful anymore but I mean like.. bouncing off the walls youth.) My mom told me that were going to CP (6 MONTHS BEFORE!) So here I am, in the middle of a school year, waiting.. and waiting.. for the summer. Now you tell me, which is worse? Waiting 6 months to go to CP; or waiting to get out of school everday for 6 months. Exactly. You get both! And so here I am, as a little kid, saddened and angered for 6 months to pass. And heres the best part, finally summer comes, and guess what. It rained the whole time we were there! Oh the joy my mother had on the way home..

Anyone else have cruel waiting stories.. or anything related to waiting for CP?

No one would take me to CP when I was a kid. I was po. That's why I go more on my own grown up dime.

Once a summer when I was a kid. That is what the family did..

My dad thinks he still has the photo of my first trip in '75 getting on my first coaster.. Mine Ride..

The first thing I went on was Demon Drop. My first coaster was Corkscrew I think. My mom went on nothing back then.. now she's doing millenium 4 times in a row with me.. lol me and my dad call her "Coaster Mama"

My mom would tell me 2 months in advance of when we would be going as soon as school let out. We got very lucky and never went on a day it rained.

I honestly don't remember my first trip to Cedar Point, but I do remember the fact that I was too small for the Gemini, so I went on the Jr. Gemini, this was back in the early 80's or so.

My mom always made it a yearly tradition when I was a kid, and now that I'm older (and have more money) I can go more than once a year. Make even more memories with close friends.

My mom hasn't been to Cedar Point since the 80's and I'm taking her in 2 weeks, she has a shock coming to her with all the stuff they've added to the park, she is 66 years old now, I highly doubt I'll get her on many rides, but it's the memories you create with the people your with that make it wonderful

Lol, someone 66 years old I would think would be scared to do anything! No offence to anyone 66 years old, but wow, if she does ride a coaster or [atleast] something, she's an awesome mother.

My first trip to Cedar Point was in 1999 and I was 16. The first time I heard about Cedar Point was a year before that when my family of then "budding" enthusiasts watched the old Discovery Channel Thrills Chills and Spills Memorial Day Weekend special. It was the "Greatest Amusement Parks" one that really hooked us, because it had Busch Gardens Williamsburg on it (one of the few parks we had been to, but we loved it) and Kennywood, Cedar Point and Knobels too. Since we were planning a trip to New England (from Wisconsin) the following summer my dad decided to add a day at Kennywood and 2.5 at Cedar Point. Driving up that peninsula for the first time, and seeing that skyline was a really neat.

But before that, when I was little and living in New England we would always take three day trips to amusement parks: Santa's Village in Jackson, NH, Storyland in Glen, NH and Canobie Lake in Salem, NH. I looked forward to those days all year, especially Canobie.

^^ She does want to get on the Mine Ride and maybe the Iron Dragon this year, but that's about as "brave" as she'll get. She's in very good shape, doesn't take medication for anything and lost 60 pounds within a year. She also walks 2 miles a day. So I think she'll be up for it.

Last year I saw a very elderly couple ride the Chaos. I'm thinking to myself I doubt if that would be me at their age.

this summer is about to be the greatest summer of my life! im still a youngin at 17 and next summer i plan on working at the point but this summer my parents suprised me on my bday with platinum passes and 4 trips for about a week each through out the season this year. im so excited! and before anyone says your just a rich spoiled kid i would just like to let you guys know that it wasnt always this way my dad just got a huge promotion and enormous bonus. he loves cp as much as i do. im so excited for this summer!

^ Wow, lucky for you. I will only be able to get 2 trips in for 4 days, maybe 3 if I'm lucky. Were getting platinum passes for the season also, because I live in Michigan. (Michigan's Adventure)

My first trip to CP was an end of the school year trip in 9th grade and I instantly fell in love. ALL my family heard about after that was Cedar Point, Cedar point, and some more Cedar Point. So in October they actually took me back for Halloweekends. I was soo excited. Then we got there and NO ONE would go on any of the coasters with me. It was horrible. Sure I could have went by myself, but me and my sister were supposed to "stick together." So here we are, at the best place on earth surrounded by the world's most beautiful coasters...and I couldn't ride any of the big ones at all We did ride DT though, 9 times. We rode Iron Dragon a couple of times. And I guess it was still nice to be there and all, but it sucked not being able to ride Magnum

Yes, it was quite a sight, actually they were laughing and having a good time, they seemed to be in excellent shape. It's rare to see that kind of thing.

Lol.. I can just see my mom right now not wanting to watch people scream on TTD or MF. She doesn't like anything that goes over 80 feet in the air.

^^^^ Wow, what a happy healthy couple.. My dad doesnt fit on alot of stuff, and my mom loves roller coasters.. that is if she closes her eyes. But I dont see my mom on chaos any time soon.

waiting ? i waited years to finally get to CP last year. our first time was last year on our 20th wedding anniversary. i wish we would have skipped the Niagara Falls part of the trip and just stayed at CP. thats why this year we are spending five days there. WOOHOO !

we actually just added a leg to our trip and are stopping on the way back at Kings Island. don't know much about it, but we might as well go seeing how we will be that close. after all, the more coasters you can ride the better.

Are you kidding???

I am now 31, and at this moment my wife and I are excitedly packing our bags for this weekend (from Columbus).

It doesn't matter how old we get, we will always get excited seeing that incredible skyline for the first time each year. Heck, I have had a "mental countdown" in my head for weeks now. OK, so months. OK, so in reality, I have been waiting for opening day 2008 since our daughter was born last year (we had to miss CP last season due to pregnancy, etc.).

So yes, I would say I get excited. I'm a member of Pointbuzz...that has to say something.
