Platinum pass and challenge park

I couldn't find info anywhere about it, so I'll ask here. I know the challenge park opens on the 9th to the GP, but I heard that platinum pass holders can get a friend who also has a platinum pass, onto a pay per ride for free. Me and my friend want to ride skyscraper on the 9th, and I was just curious as to how this works.

Re: Platinum pass and challenge park

Platinum pass holders can buy one flight admission, get one FREE (not valid on Saturdays).

Based on how buy one get one free worked at ripcord last year I'm guessing it means you just get to go twice instead of one person not having to pay. Thats just a guess though.

Re: Platinum pass and challenge park

I think the reason you got to go again on RipCord for the "buy one get one free" coupons was because they sell tickets by flight and not by person. So if I remember correctly, if people bought the $45 three-person flight, they all got another ride with the coupon.

Maybe Skyscraper would be the same, but since it will probably sell tickets for individual rides rather than multi-person ones, I bet you could get 2 people to go on for the price of one. Of course, that would make the most sense for capacity purposes as they will load in two person seats, so then there would be two people going for the discount and not one person going solo twice needing to get paired up with another single rider both times.

Re: Platinum pass and challenge park

I guess it all comes down to how skyscraper is priced then.

You would think a price list would be posted by now.

It's only 5 days before challenge park opens! I mean they know what they are doing, but I hope skyscraper will be ready for may 9th.....

Re: Platinum pass and challenge park

I would'nt be too worried. Skyscraper is really an oversized, glorified fair ride. It should'nt take too much time to get built and operating. The only concern I have is it getting state certified before May 9.

Be worried.

On another note...

Where at CP.com would I find and print my Platinum Pass voucher?

EDIT:
Wow. Within 2 minutes of asking via their commenting system, I received a new copy of my order confirmation email. Now that's service!

Re: Platinum pass and challenge park

I got my platinum pass at Michigans Adventure this morning. The new coaster fills the park up nicely.

It was very adventurous going to Michigans Adventure.

And the weather is looking to be fantastic opening weekend at CP.

Do you know how long it takes to get a ride certified, or what the certification process is? Does it just need to run x amount of hours with no people on it without falling apart or what?

C point would plan the certification ahead to make sure it works out and those on may 9th will not be dissapointed

^ - except that Cedar Point has already said that it won't open until later this summer. It won't be open on Friday.

Re: Platinum pass and challenge park

Has there been an official announcement? I would hope so. Kinda shady to just say that the ride will open later in the season through an unrelated press release...

Its an official release from the park though, not a Toledo Blade or Sandusky Register article.

Re: Platinum pass and challenge park

Here is the "official" answer I got from the park:

Hi, Josh

Thank you for your interest in Cedar Point.

There is no information available about the Skyscraper at this time.

If you have any other questions about Cedar Point, please call our
Information Line at 419-627-2350.

Yeah... It certainly doesn't sound good... You would think if it was certainly going to open they would be able to confirm that 4 days before...
