A Cedar Point field trip for physics students from Windsor's Holy Names High School will take
place despite the reservations of a school board trustee.
"It
is very difficult to show physics in a class," said Frank Mancina, a
teacher at Holy Names high school. Bringing students to an amusement
park will allow them to observe physics in everyday settings, he said.
Though
the concerned trustee, Joan Courtney, voted in favor of the field
trip, she has asked to see the work that is related to the trip once it
has been completed by the students.
The
school board looks at every field trip individually and evaluates the
connection between the curriculum and the activities on the field trip,
said Linda Staudt, superintendent of the Essex-Windsor Catholic
District School Board. "In this case there is a connection," she said.
