Radio Stations to the Point?

I will be driving mutipal times to the point this summer from PA, and was wondering, what are some good stations that come in in the LORAIN/SANDUSKY area? I am looking for the classic rock stations.

BTW, what is the "Cedar Point trafic station, I'm always going two fast past that sign to read the numbers. I'm going about Magnum past it. On 80, I do Phantom's Revenge.

Re: Radio Stations to the Point?

If you're looking for classic rock, you should be able to pull in 94.5 from Toledo. My favorite station, and I've managed to pick it up all the way into downtown Cleveland. Cleveland's classic rock station is 98.5, but I've never really listened to it.

The FM Cedar Point traffic info station is 102.7. There is an AM station, but I don't recall what it is.

Re: Radio Stations to the Point?

If you're close enough to shore, you can pick up 89X (88.7 FM, CIMX/Windsor-Detroit). Used to be a great alternative station, though I haven't tuned it in for awhile. I think Clear Channel got their dirty hands on that station too.

Re: Radio Stations to the Point?

Jeff you're right when you say "used to be." Past couple years have been pretty poor.

Hence the comment about ClearChannel getting their dirty paws on it.

Re: Radio Stations to the Point?

I start off with "99 bottles of beer on the wall" in Toledo and finish up on the Causeway.

Edit I do drive 187mph so that is possible timing guys.

Re: Radio Stations to the Point?

CIMX is not part of Clear Channel (barf), but is part of the CHUM Group which is owned by Canada's CTVglobemedia.

Picked 89X up last year from Pelee Island, seemed like a pretty good station to me. But, my opinion may be warped by spending the afternoon at the Pelee Island Winery before listening.

Ohh yea CHUM, most or all of the Windsor (or in this case Windsor/Detroit) stations are owned by CHUM.

89x is good if you listen to it during the day. It plays more of the old stuff. But a lot of the new stuff they are coming out with is crap. Like Panic at the Disco and all of the crap.

I happen to like Panic at the Disco. They are a refreshing and intelligent voice on the radio dial.

Re: Radio Stations to the Point?

lol Well sorry if I offended you. I just liked the days of 89x when they would play more rock or alternative. Like bands from Staind to Blink 182 to Third Eye Blind. Now Iv'e been turning more to 101.1 to listen to rock music, but then they don't play the alternative stuff.

Re: Radio Stations to the Point?

I'm not offended. I merely stated my opinion. It's not like I'm gaga over the band. I'm forty and don't have band posters plastered all over my bedroom walls like some tikes -- but if I did, they would be reserved for the likes of Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Wilco, and Fountains of Wayne.
