Banners in Signatures?

I searched for info about this but couldn't find anything.

I would like to post my coaster count banner in my signature, but realize that it can not be done.
Is there a way to do this, or have you ever thought about allowing something like this?

The banner is only 45px by 400px.

Thanks.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

I'm guessing this has to do with the reason they're not allowed, but these kind of things get out of hand quickly and begin to take over. More banners/avatars/signatures than post.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

One of the best things about this site is that none of that LOOK AT ME crap exists.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

That's one of the best things about this site. No 3 inch signatures (at 1600x1200 none-the-less) to scroll past after reading a one line post.

Agreed. They aren't needed here.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

It'll never happen on one of my sites. Ever. It's obnoxious attention whoring distractionary crap.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

Wow... you guys are so friendly!

If you don't like "obnoxious attention whoring distractionary look at me crap", why don't you delete your damn icons?
I assume that your icons represent something about yourself, which is the same thing the banner that I asked about would represent, and seeing as how you posted your icon for everyone to see, I'm guessing that you want people to look at it, right?

I'm not complaining that I can't have one. I just asked if there was a way to do it, or if Jeff ever thought about it.

I've got to tell you guys, this site really gets to me.
I know, then don't read it, right?
Well, I love CP just as much as you do, and I love to read about it, and I love to talk about it even more.
I read this site everyday, but I very rarely post, because 90% of the people on here are complete dicks!

I see a lot of you at CP quite a bit, but there is no way that I would talk to you. If you're this damn mean on here, why the hell would I want to talk to you in person?
It really sucks to not be able to connect with people that share my interests.

P.S. what happened to this? " Have an issue, question or suggestion for us? We'd love to hear from you." Phhh!

Uh, which part was mean? You asked, I gave you my explanation.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

I'm gonna go with this part... "It's obnoxious attention whoring distractionary crap".

All you had to say was something along the lines of, "I would prefer to not have banners or pictures in signatures on any of my sites, as they clutter the page", or maybe " I don't allow banners or pictures in signatures because they distract from the content of the page that people are here to read".

Re: Banners in Signatures?

You're 28 and can't take someone calling an annoying banner "obnoxious attention whoring distractionary crap"?

Seriously, get over it. It's not that big of a deal. The forum owner(s) do not want them. Enough said.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

Last I checked, Jeff called the banners "obnoxious attention whoring distractionary crap", not you. He didn't say anything mean or offensive, he just explained exactly what the banners become. Its the same reason signatures are limited to 3-ish lines. We don't need people making 2 line posts with 15 line signatures.

I for one am glad for the rule because I get annoyed at message boards where I keep seeing the same, annoying, Japanese cartoon seizure inducing animation after every two word post.

You're doing it wrong. Its supposed to go like this:
Case closed.

And one of the best parts about the lack of images is the speed at which pages load.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

Good point. A lot of times those fricken banners are hosted at GeoCities or other sub-par hosting provider and slow the effing loading of the page down even on a fast connection.

More DNS resolutions = baaaaaad

Re: Banners in Signatures?

Am I the only one who has been to forums rendered unreadable because of the crap loaded in every single post signature? I don't even see why I need to back up my opinion in that regard.

You're right! I forgot that when I turned 28 that I received a letter saying that it was now ok for people to be cocky dicks to me.

Here's the thing that pisses me off. Most of you are cocky in a sly enough kind of way that you can play it off, and you know it! But I'm not buying it.
I think that you guys say this stuff on here, but if we were face to face, that you would be wording things a bit different. At least, I hope that you would.
I try to treat everyone on here the same that I would in person, and I guess I'm just asking for the same respect.

You are right. Jeff didn't call me "obnoxious attention whoring distractionary crap", but that doesn't matter. It's still not respectful.
It would be different if I was arguing with him about letting me put a banner in my signature, but I'm not.
See Jugga... I hate video games, and I hate Pshycopathic ICP fake ass clowns, but I don't tell you that they are crap just because I don't like them.
I could care less if Jeff or anyone else doesn't like, or doesn't agree with banners in signatures, I'm complaining about how you guys come off when you say that you don't like them. A simple "We don't agree with having those on this site" would be perfect.

Re: Banners in Signatures?

You know, your user name borders on being offensive too, but you don't see me ranting on about it.

No one is being a cocky dick to you, I think you're just unhappy that you can't post your banner.

You can, but only if you get it from a shelter. And it's spayed or neutered.
