I'm excited about the retractable seat belts on BS, MS, and Corkscrew. That ought to speed up loading times a bit. I always liked the retractable belts they had on the KI coasters.

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

The Tomo restaurant sounds very interesting. I've never heard of that brand before, does anyone know if it is a chain habachi restaurnat, like Benihana? I did a quick Google search on "Tomo Japanese Restaurant" and it came back with a variety of places with the same name. All different though, not a chain that I could tell.

I too am very anxious for the Tomo restaurant. I am a huge Sushi fan!

Doubt they will sell Fugu there

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

I am looking forward to Subway, that will be good if you want to eat good to lose weight to ride the rides. It would be the CP jared diet. Walk around CP all day and eat a subway sandwich for a meal, but then you have stuff like that Prime Rib burger, we'll see if it can beat the Coaster Burger at Coasters. I still have to try Johnny Rockets as well. Chocolate covered jumbo pretzel I might have to try to.

Overall there is a lot of new stuff to check out this year. Including in the shops. I wonder how the print your own t-shirts is gonna be. Some great things to look forward to.

Headsets at Mine Ride and Mean Streak

Forgive me if I'm missing something totally obvious, but what are headsets? Are these coasters getting new headrests?

April 22, 2008, 7:30A

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

I would guess that's wireless headsets for the ride ops to use to spiel. But that's just a guess.

Dragster Rides=440 (RB=18) / Maverick Rides=121 (My 200th coaster)

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

That's what I would assume too Mark, I believe both of those rides previously spieled from the control panel.

I am curious as to the change with the Early Entry times... It says it will now be an hour (9-10). Hasn't this always been the case?

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

Quick question, is Demon Drop operating this year? I was under the impression it was SBNO.

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

Having retractable seatbelts.. does that mean that overwieght people can ride now?

April 22, 2008, 9:10A

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

When was it said that DD was going to be SBNO?

April 22, 2008, 9:12A

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

If memory serves, I believe ERT used to be 9:30 for joe cool members and 9:00 for the resort guests.

April 22, 2008, 9:16A

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

I forget. I know they've been trying to sell it, but I thought I read somewhere that last year was the last year it'd be running.

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

Hmmm... Last year at the SC Gate it was always Resort and Joe Cool in at the same time.... 1 hr prior to park open.

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

New greens at Challenge Golf

I'm surprised: the greens were not bad and the Challenge Golf already looked cleaner than many similar amenities in other parks.

Spiels and music on CP & LE Railroad

Great!

Headsets at Mine Ride and Mean Streak

Do you know what that means?

Subway (former Surrey)

This is a great addition. I understand that some people may be disappointed to meet well-known companies throughout the midway, but we have to admit that eating other things than fries and junk food is difficult when you spend several days in a row at CP. Panda Express in 2007, and now Subway, are welcomed additions in my opinion.

Where do you think CP's new head of maintenance came from?

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

I was really excited to hear them adding Subway to the park and an employee only area (wonder which one?), but the retractable seatbelts beat that out after working Corkscrew last year. We all wanted those last year.

Is there a RSS feed I can subscribe to in iTunes? Great job by the way Walt.

Re: Cedar Point 2008 season preview

I am glad to see they are fixing the belt setup on CorkScrew. It is a welcome change, and second only to removing the un-necessary things in the first place.

Demon Drop is NOT SBNO, it is for sale, but will continue to operate until A - they sell it, B - they have a replacement for its spot, C - they just tear it down. Remember, this is a park that has been embarrassed the last couple years by having brand new rides broken down for large portions of the season. They are not going to let a working ride (and a well loved working ride) stand idle, unless of course they don't own it anymore.

As I said in another thread, I'd rather they get Jimmy John's than Subway.
