How long does it take to hear back on your app.? Should I call?

Hi all,

I put in an application about 2 and a half weeks ago. I still have not heard from anyone and when I check the status on JobNet it says it is still being reviewed...How long does it take to hear back and is it too soon to call and check on it?

Josh

It can sometimes take several weeks to hear back. What department did you apply to? How long has it had your application as under review?

I applied for arcade mechanic and ride and attraction mechanic. It said it has been under review for maybe a week and a half or so..

Ride mechanics are very hard to get into, I am not familiar with the arcade mechanics. I know the ride mechanics are usually there almost year around and are part of a union. You have to have prior experience I believe.

You'd probably have a good chance of getting into arcade mechanics. I would wait a little bit and then maybe call.

good arcade mechanic is my top desired position. I have 15 classic arcade games in my personal game room which I have repaired and I have worked at an arcade before.

I remember last year they were somewhat understaffed for arcade mechanics, or they didn't have very reliable people. Something like that. If you call make sure to ask for the games office and then they'll transfer you to the arcade shop. As an arcade mechanic you'll also be responsible for fixing outside games when something goes wrong with them.

Well Josh, if you become a ride mechanic, get used to Mine ride, Dragster, and maverick. They have the most calls in the park.

Yeah i figured that. I know Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick have issues and I know what most of them are, but what the heck goes wrong with Mine Ride? Its not that complex of a ride system is it?

Why not call? Shows initiative. I did it my first season, and ended up immediatly interviewing with Steve.

You could always be calling to "check the status of your application", thereby showing interest in the job.

I can think of another ride that would fit in that list.

Haha, as can I. I don't think you can really narrow it down to "get used to these three, they have the most calls", as you don't really know. It can change daily as to what ride is going to be calling "the most". All rides have mechanical problems, it's just a matter of when they occur.

So I called Thursday, and of course neither of the hiring managers were in that day So the person that I spoke to on the phone took my name and number and said they would let them know I called...

I'm really crossing my fingers for a phone call monday or tuesday. JobNet still says my application is still being reviewed.....

ok i have another question. I logged into JobNet today and my status has changed it now says:

Your application is now in our general application base and available for review by all operating departments within Cedar Point.

What does that mean? Anyone know?

I'm guessing this means that the hiring managers for your first three choices are finished looking over your application and now it is available for review by all the hiring managers. I believe the message before that said something about the application being reviewed by the hiring managers of your preferred job choices. Doesn't necessarily mean you won't get your preferred job, of course.

Good Luck!

Your application automatically gets moved to the general pool after 2 to 3 weeks.

Re: How long does it take to hear back on your app.? Should I call?

Sweet.

I think I'm in. Clyde mentioned that I would be coming down April 30th and starting May first.

He did not give a definate "yes, you are hired" though.. But he did say something about filling out a background check, etc. Jobnet just says my status is being updated. Check back later.
