Re: Main Midway Cam

Probably maintenance...or they are working on the collapsed Sky Ride communications cable.

Re: Main Midway Cam

The camera is pointed in that direction because of maintenance, their were two guy their working on it earlier. Also the Sky Ride communications cable did not just collapse their just preforming maintenance to the too.

Re: Main Midway Cam

Well, since the comm-cable first collapsed* during an ice storm a week or so ago (2 weeks maybe?) I doubt this is "just maintenance".

* - sorry, don't have a better word than collapsed.

Re: Main Midway Cam

Here a Quote from the blog ast week.

Hey guys, is that a new cable for the Sky Ride that I see on the webcam?

Nope. Maintenance crews are working on the other Sky Ride station. The cable you see is a data cable, not an actual ride cable. It merely has some slack in it.

Re: Main Midway Cam

From Tony & Tyler:

It looks like the cam was accidentally bumped. Since it's not showing a flattering view right now, we've temporarily stopped transmission. We'll get out there soon to move it back into place. But be on notice - it won't be the cam's final home for 2008!

We'll miss you MrScott

Re: Main Midway Cam

Big Jon - yes, but the maintenance is most likely putting it back up, since I doubt they chose an ice storm as the optimum time to do said maintenance.

Re: Main Midway Cam

either way its all getting worked on and will be okay in plenty of time for the beginning of the season. I hope for all your sakes the main midway cam...or its new position will be up soon... Its fun watching them set up...since I'm involved with merch set up I get to see it first hand but I still like downloading pics from the webcams....sad I know....and tony and tyler's blogs' pics. Planet Snoopy shall be fun finally seeing it come together :-D and its fun seeing the midway turn from blandness to the landscaped look everyone sees on opening day. If you catch webcams during the day, especially as we get closer you'll see a lot of action on the midway, things being transported from winter locations back to their summer home. It gets nosier and nosier along the midway as it gets closer and closer.
As much as you've all been counting down to opening day, I've had two countdowns going and finally one is coming close...going back to the point for set up in Merch...and of course the other is opening day...Just under two months people...its hard to believe another season is coming that close.

Re: Main Midway Cam

I've always thought that was a really good location for a webcam and am kinda disappointed to see it moved. It was nice during the season to see the midway full of people, and being a Raptor fan, it was always nice to catch a glimpse of a train going by.

Re: Main Midway Cam

Maybe they are moving the camera back over by Millennium Force like they did in 2000. I know that's wishful thinking, but you never know.

Re: Main Midway Cam

ummm no getting hopes up folks if they're doing so, they're hiding the construction really well...I just was walking through the point today with my boss discussing merch set up next week and no 500 ft tall coasters in sight, lots of construction going on but no tall coasters and nothing other than yearly maintenance, or items already mentioned in the news and tony and tyler's blog.

I'm suprised no one mentioned this yet, but if you go to the direct link of the camera, you can see the last image that was captured before it was turned off.http://cedarpoint.com/_cpcam/skyridecam.jpg

Re: Main Midway Cam

To be honest that picture is the most interesting thing I've seen come out of CP for a couple months.

Let's face it, snow and dirt are not fun to look at.

Re: Main Midway Cam

looking on the good time Webcam I see a crane moving around on the Wicked Twister. I am not sure what they are doing with that Coaster or something beside the ride?

March 21, 2008, 9:30A

Re: Main Midway Cam

maintenance and prep for the beginning of the year I'm sure. The crane goes around like crazy around this time of year when rides are started to be put back together again, I know I hear the beeps from the machines backing up while we're in the stores all the time. A lot of rides, trains are taken off and done yearly maintenance during the winter months and not put back on until after tracks are fully checked. Tony and Tyler have done a blog about it sometime in the past, I'm sure its still there.
