I hear there are three of them at CP. There is one in Kiddy Kingdom and the main midway one, but where is the third??

Cedar Downs, also on the main midway, is a racing/platform carousel.

Wasn't there one in the back located between Wave Swinger and WWL (now a Halloweekend attraction)?? And that one was moved to a different park?

Correct. The Frontier Carousel was sent to Dorney Park.

I don't think it was closed in as a carousel tho. i seen a picture somewhere and cant remember now.

Correct, it was just the overhang; no walls to the building.

Cedar Downs is the best carousel out of them all too. Arguably the most historical significant ride in the park.

Betsy you may remember the Frontier Carousel originally being at Lake Lansing in the 70's.

LOL, yep, we would ride that and try to get those gold rings. They still have that building there though, which is kind of sad. Wish they would put something there.

Did the carousel have the rings when it was in Frontierland?

December 15, 2007, 11:09A

Oh man. I had the oppurtunity to ride the carousel at Santa Cruz with rings, and it was the most fun carousel I've ever been on! I made it in twice, and people laugh the whole time.

It would be so cool if Cedar Point could have that. I remember seeing a show that said Santa Cruz replaces 80,000 rings a year, so I guess it wouldn't work at a park with as many visitors as Cedar Point.

I would have to say though, it would be the best family attraction in the park if it was to be.

Or they don't let the riders keep the rings. That would cut back on replacements at least a little bit. Its the safety issue they would be more concerned with.

It never spent anytime at a Disney park as far as I know...

Ha ha! I guess I'm a little excited about my trip in two weeks.

Cedar Downs had rings when it was at Euclid Beach (I remember as I used to ride it there). I was wondering if they could even bring something like that back in this day and age. I think some guests might get too caried away and it might be a little bit more liabilty than the park might want.

Re: Three Carousels at Cedar Point?

Actually there were four carousels at one time. There was a second one in Kiddieland,(in addition to the Dentzel), an Allen Herschel kiddie machine that If I recall properly was sent to Valleyfair .

Knoebels Grove in Elysburg, PA still has a carousel with a brass ring machine. Not sure what their insurance is or how many they replace though, but the ride is an absolute blast.
