I find it very interesting that news release didn't mention Platinum Passes at all. Also, on their website, they don't mention the price of the Platinum Pass.

I can't grasp their pricing concept for '08. It just seems sooooooo cheap to go there. Where are they going to make their money? Do water parks cost nothing to operate?

Also, where's the incentive to buy a Platinum Pass at WWK over Cedar Point?

That is rather expensive for a waterpark. Using Michigan's Adventure as an example, their 1 day admission in 2007 was $24. That included a waterpark AND an Amusement park. The waterpark at Michigan's Adventure is bigger than Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom. It would seem as if they would be making a ton of profit off of these ticket sales.

A GLWK Platinum Pass would get you early entry into the waterpark, whereas a CP Platinum Pass would not.

I saw that too, and was a bit...quizzical? Waterparks are different than ride parks. Lots of folks will be interested in getting a Joe Cool type deal if it means hopping on Maverick or TTD an hour before everybody else. But I just can't see that many people getting excited to get in a...um, swimming pool...first. Even with all the slides and doodads, water can still be freaking cold at 9:30 in the morning. Brrrrrrrrrr. Makes me shrink up just thinking about it.

They can get some pretty long lines at the tornado slide. It's the main reason I havn't ridden it yet. I don't feel like waiting an hour standing in the sun in my bathing suit to get wet for 20 seconds. Besides, me in a bathing suit? No one wants to see that.

I did Soak City this year because I got the Maxx Pass Plus. If that were still the pass configuration for next season, I would most likely skip it. I'm not really a water park guy.

For those that are however, skipping some long lines on days when it's warm could be the incentive they need to get the pass at GL instead of CP. Obviously a 50 or 60 degree morning in May or September might be a little chilly for some, but June through August can have some nice mornings.

Yeah, the Platinum Pass gets you way more at CP than it does at WWK.

I don't go to water parks normally, so I'm not sure if that price is high or not. But, since everyone "raves" about the park being so awesome, those prices just seem dirt cheap. And, since you only have to go twice to more than pay for a season pass, why would ANY local people buy daily tickets? Plus, free parking?

Everyone talks about CP "giving away the gate" during Halloweekends and it seems like WWK is giving away the gate all year.

But what's funny is that it's only a couple bucks cheaper than last year's admission and it's minus an entire amusement park.

Yeah, I'm with Loopy on this one. I looked at those prices and thought, "are you frickin' kidding me?" I paid (well, *I* didn't pay, but had a friend who paid) $27.95 last year, they removed the entire rides side and are only charging me $3 less? If I were a local, that would seem to me like a ripoff... and it would put that bad taste in my mouth that would make me choose another destination (Pioneer Waterland?) instead.

And while that season pass seems a steal, I recall having one in either the last year of Premier or first of Six Flags for about $50.

Since most people were going for the water park anyway, it may not make a difference. If anything they average person may be happy that it went down a couple dollars.

Man I forgot about Pioneer Waterland. I had a birthday party there ages ago and we had a blast!! I just checked and their daily rate is $12 or $14 (weekday or anyday).

Maybe, Jason. But I know in discussions I've had with my brother (incidentally also named Jason,) he talked about the mindset of his friends and it was definitely value for price. He said they could go up there, pay a reasonable rate, stay for a few hours, ride all they wanted, and feel as if they'd gotten their money's worth. So when you *used to* get that experience for $27 (or whatever,) and are now getting just waterpark for $4... Anyways, I'm diving into redundant territory from my last post.

Tim, I think I only went there once in my life, for one of my dad's company picnics, but I remember having a really good time. I was probably 12-14, so it's been a few years lol. (My favorite was Dover Lake, RIP. Sigh.) But for that much of a price difference? Hands down for me. (Of course, it's a moot point, since they're 2+ hours away and Wyan... er Zoombezi is ~30 mins, but whatever LOL.)

Also, splish-splashing guests at Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom will be kept busy with other activities including hula hoop and limbo contests, balloon toss games and Geauga Lake Idol, where guests will compete every Saturday from June through August at the Geauga Lake Stadium.

They're not running a waterpark... they're running a Day Camp for kids!

I can't wait for the karaoke competition myself.

I don't buy the statement that most people came just for the waterpark. Having gotten a guest survey from CP this year I can only guess what the survey for Geauga Lake looked like. But I would imagine they are simmilar with all mutiple choice questions and no where to fill in a response.

So take my wife and I for an example. What brought you to Geauga Lake? Pick one. I would answer the water park, because that is why I came to Geauga Lake rather than CP, but what goes unsaid is that we do go partially for the rides. So it may be true that the waterpark was the biggest draw, it may not be true that it is able to draw a noteworthy crowd on its own. As for me, I might go once, because we have friends in Cleveland, but I am not going to drive from Toledo to Cleveland just for a waterpark.

But I don't have an MBA so I could be wrong. Only time will tell. I just hope that this is a good move because I don't think I am going to wait much longer for stock prices to rebound.
