I looked for another topic like this and can't seem to find it so I'm just going to ask:
On which rides do they have the bins where you can put your things like cameras and bags in it so you don't have to take it on the ride if it doesn't fit in your pocket?You might not care but,I need to know this because for opening day next year,I'm making a little video about Cedar Point for my school.I know I have it planned way before I should start planning,but I am really busy so i might as well get it out of the way now before I forget.

Any help would be nice!!

TTD and MF do NOT due to their dual stations. Disaster Transport also does not. Everything else does, at least as far as the major rides go (and as far as I can remember).

My suggestion to you would be to go in the park, shoot your video, go out to the car and drop off the camera. Then you can re-enter the park and continue your day. Don't try to mix riding with videography (and especially not at the same time).

I don't remember seeing bins on Iron Dragon this year. Even though most of the rides have bins/shelves, with something as expensive as a video camera, I would do as suggested and do your taping and then your riding. I've often thought of how easily somebody could take things from those bins, it likely? No, but it could happen, a mass of people all reaching down into the bins. Besides, it would be more fun to ride without having to worry about that or pay for a locker.

Thats what I think about every time I visit

When I was on Blue Streak, a young women,no older then me[I'm 16] had a purse and it was open and she was sitting behind me and she said that she forgot to put her stuff in the bin,and as she was getting out,she tripped,her purse and herself went tumbling to the floor and out of the purse comes:
an iPhone

an iPod

a blackberry

what looked like a ring and a pair of diamond earrings in a plastic baggy

and a lot of other stuff,by a lot I mean a lot.I'm surprised the bag didn't fall apart with all of the stuff she had in it.

Boy was I not only embarrassed or the lady but also worried.A whole queue full o people just saw things worth well over $1000 fall out of the bag she just put in a little wooden bin that anyone can get stuff out of!

I'm not surprised if Iron Dragon doesn't have bins anymore. They cut their intervals close enough as it is.

If you are one of those people who say operations/capacity has been dropping for the past few years. The bins are the thing to blame. I'm not a fan of the bins.

Yeah, count me as another employee that almost completely despises the bins. I really don't get why people need to carry around a backpack or their purses anyway. The fanny pack/waist pack was invented for a reason, and it makes sense to use it at places like Cedar Point. I wouldn't mind if they went back to no loose articles being allowed in line.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Work one day at the entrance of a ride that doesn't permit anything in line and you'll understand why it's a pain... for guests and employees.

I understand why you don't like the bins, but there are many negatives to simply prohibiting everything as well.

If they came up with a method that was easy for the guests to use, it wouldn't be a hassle. I'm not sure why they don't have locker banks near each ride. Charge a daily locker rental fee and allow people to use all the lockers. You could have a swipe card or a PIN or something and use any of the lockers in the park - over and over again. That way it is affordable for the guests, loose articles aren't an issue, ride ops can direct people right to the lockers and efficiency of the rides doesn't suffer.

I know CP would never do this but...

USF/IOA do this the right way, they have lockers at all their entrances that are free so long as you come back in 2 hours (this would probably need to be upped to 3 hours at CP for the big rides.)

I went on the iron dragon this summer with a gatorade, and sling pack. I even asked and they said it's ok.

Like someone said above, Iron Dragon has the shortest amount of time to get a train in and out of the station. When running 3 trains, a train must get out of the station and allow the one in the brakes to move up before the third train tops the second lift.

It's the same situation on Magnum, but the crew on that ride has a longer interval to deal with. I believe it is just over 75 seconds.

On Iron Dragon, everything you bring with you in line must go with you on the ride. I worked there for part of a day this year and I was amazed at the number of people that would try to leave their book bags and other loose items on the platform right next to the train where people were about to step a mere few seconds later.

Then again, I really shouldn't be amazed with what people do anymore...

Wow - they took the bins away on Iron Dragon? I hope Magnum is next!

I have to say that I found it strange that Magnum's lift sped back up to "normal" speed halfway through the day on Saturday bringing the interval back down to around 80 seconds. It had been probably at least 20 seconds slower the last few times I was there. I'd heard it was due to issues with power and not operational problems and the shiny brand new "PAD 69" power box next to the station on Saturday would seem to back that up. I'm not sure of who or what "flipped the switch" or if it will slow back down. I hope not. The crew was doing a much better job of getting the trains out than they were earlier in the season. I still saw some setups, but at least it wasn't every few trains. I waited in a full queue and was on in under an hour. It used to be about 45 minutes, but they're still moving more people there than most rides in the park.

Still though, if the park wants to see ridership numbers on these rides back up to their historic norms, they're going to have to do something more creative than the awful bins. The trains are difficult to navigate through, difficult to get back into, restraints are often locked and need to be released, and the people exiting from the previous train getting their stuff out of the bins are in the way of the people trying to get their stuff into the same bin and get back into the train.

Why not free lockers? Put more in around the park so you don't have to walk as far [in some cases] I think more people would be more likely to use them then. Just make sure they get emptied at the end of the night or it goes into lost and found. Granted that could mean more at lost at found, but if people really care, they'll get their stuffs.
