We're planning on going to CP on Friday the 12th. The weather looks cool (50s) and some rain's in the forecast. How does the weather affect the rides? Do they close coaster with a little bit of rain? Has anyone gone on a cool, cloudy night?

Thanks!

Due to problems in May, CP now has a very strict rain policy, all the coasters will close, however the haunted attractions will I assume remain open.

As for cold, TTD is prone to rollbacks (and technical difficulties) when its cold, so if you want to ride him be sure to go early. On the plus side cold weather means the trims on Magnum and Gemini (well if it was open, its not on Fridays) are turned off, making every ride wilder.

Yeah even the slightest rain reported on peninsula I think will make rides shut down.

If your walking and you think you felt a rain drop...look around. Everything should be in the process of shutting down ride wise.

All flats shut down too I think.

I am going this Sunday and I think we got some great weather coming.

You just need to worry about evening showers for Friday, and the weather is so unpredictable anyways. It wouldn't surprise me if it misses CP entirely.

Lake Erie is down a whole foot this year from the lack of rain.

Thanks for the quick replies. I was hoping for a Sunday trip, but I'm taking a group of 12 year old boys and they want the scary night stuff.

I think the flats still run as I've been there in the rain and no coaster was running but Skyhawk and Maxair were.

Which begs the question, will they loosen this? It's completely ridiculous how they are over-reacting to Magnum's little bump.

^Why should they? I think it's a good thing that they care so much about the safety of the guests. Usually when a ride has an accident it is closed for the season (excluding Magnum), which I'm sure they don't want to happen to any of the rides.

Maxair is still broken. So no good thrill rides besides PT and Skyhawk. I will also be there on the 12th.

What generally is open on a friday? i was reading the map but wasn't understanding it entirely. Are a majority of the big rides open or closed? To me it sounded like the had all the "major" attractions running...

and what are ticket prices on friday nights? is it the starlight? and if it is can you use the BOGO coupon?

From the website linked above:
"Rides available (weather permitting) on Fridays: Maverick, Chaos®, Witches’ Wheel , Troika, Blue Streak, Midway Carousel, Raptor®, Cedar Downs, Kiddy Kingdom (6 rides only), Cadillac Cars, Matterhorn, Scrambler, Skyhawk, Wave Swinger. WildCat, Iron Dragon, Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister, Magnum, Power Tower and Millennium Force®. All other rides, Camp Spooky and the Town Hall Museum will be closed on Friday Fright Nights."

I know this has nothing to do with your question, but I'll chime in anyway.

Rain almost never closes the 3 outdoor zones, although Werewolf Canyon closes pretty easily in rain. Fright Zone can be prone to flooding, and that can close the zone, although I can only think of twice that has happened in the last 4 years. It takes quite a bit of rain to cause that. If it's a light rain at 8:00, everyone will be out. If it's heavy, they'll either open the zones late or put all the Screamsters in Fear Faire.

The most recent forecasts I've seen no longer call for any rain on Friday or anytime this weekend, so you should be good to go.
