Is Maverick the best new ride this season yes or no?

I think the title of best new ride goes to Griffon.
It's smother, taller, and in my option just more fun to ride and watch.
What hurts Griffon though is its down time.

Maverick in my oppion, is a "one trick pony" in the reride department.

The launches are the best parts of Maverick. It is a little rough and hard to handle. I would recommend riding Dragster and Meanie before Maverick to prepare for it.

Just my opinion, B&M kicks Intiman's butt. *** Edited 8/20/2007 5:10:09 AM UTC by Phantom 1898***

Yins for the Burgh? The Point and that park that has the word wood in it are mines favorite!

Please tell me how Maverick is a one trick pony. Is it the drop, the canyons, ejector air hill, horseshoe inversion, the launch, the waterbombs, the stengal dives? If all those are somehow rolled into one then perhaps it is a one trick pony. Last I check Mav has far more elements then Griffon.

Watch out Phantom with a post like that your liable for a butt kicking on this site.

I agree with Alex. Maverick is an amazing ride and is alot smoother than I even thought while watching the ride before getting on it. I love Maverick, but do believe it is a close call between Mavie and Griffon, I give it to Maverick though.

Millenium + front seat + closing time = pure bliss

Ok

I only rode Mavie once, and I got stuck with the back seat. I guess I just had a bad experance with the ejector hill. I still enjoyed my ride, but Griffon had a higher reride on my chart.

It is a tossup, but I still prefer B&M over Intiman. (Millennium and Dragster being the exceptions). If you ask me, Maverick has the highest intensity of any coaster I have ridden. I want to ride Maverick again, but not in the back seat. I would much rather ridden in the front for my first ride to know what I was expecting.

I like all the coasters I've ridden, but I guess I was just a little biast, since I just got back from BGE and I was last at the point in June.

It wasn't just a bad experience...the ejector hill in the back is insane. I think Maverick is a well engineered ride, but the trains are just horrible and completely kill the ride for me.

It all comes down to personal preferance because I love that ejector hill air and I love being whipped around in that back seat.

When it comes to manufacturers it depends on the type of coaster they are making.

Looping > B&M
Higher than 200 ft > Intiman
Launching > Intiman
Special (Stand up, etc> > B&M

It all comes down to the type of ride. I think both companies has their speciality.

^^I agree. My only ride on Maverick was in the back seat, and I absolutely LOVED it! The airtime was absolutely insane and I didn't really get knocked around at all. But that's just me.

I love Maverick. I hope it gets Best New Ride of the Year cause it is so fun! It is crazy smooth, and all the elements on it make it the sweetest ride ever. I really hope it gets the title this year. But I do wish CP could get a drop coaster.

Griffon isn't as original as Maverick by a long shot, but I haven't ridden either coaster so beyond that I cannot talk about.

I wouldn't say that Maverick is the best ride in the park. I took 2 rides on it over the weekend and I come to the conclusion that all the elements are to close together and you get off the ride and say what just happened and you want to go on it again to find out just what did happen.

I think the Busch dive coasters are lame as hell. I'd much rather ride Maverick, no matter where it is located.

I <3 Intamin rides, because they just kick ass.

What are the dive coasters like?? I think they look fun.....

August 19, 2007, 1:31P

There's no real way to describe them. They're "gentle" just like all of the modern day B&M rides, and they just don't cut it for me.

It's like a Free fall + Hypercoaster

And I will admit that I prefer smoother coasters, however, Mean Streak had found a spot in my heart.

After reriding Maverick this week, I will say its pretty close. I know I dissed it at first, but if you know whats coming, and when to hold on, its not that painful, and could be a top 15 coaster(Right under Raptor.) I have devided it into categories for which gets my vote.

Smoothness.......Griffon
Unpredictability...Maverick
Theming............ Maverick
Trains.................Griffon
Originality........... Maverick
Reridibilty............Griffon
Air......................Maverick
Water Effect.........Griffon
Dive/Launch....TIE

TOTAL........TIE

Try riding it all morning. Your butt cheeks will hurt!

It doesn't have re-ridability for me. Even though I liked it, my neck and arms are hurting pretty bad from riding it three times on Saturday. It would really be an amazing coaster without the shoulder restraints. Short people definitely get the shaft with Maverick.

^^ You are right on that, Ben!!

I haven't been on Griffon. But after SheiKra, I am in no hurry! It was such a disappointment. Like Josh said, most newer B&Ms are pretty tame. I haven't been on many new coasters this year. I think 3 to be exact. Maverick, Mystery Mine, and Tony Hawk's Big Spin. Dry year for me! So I will go with Maverick.
