So yesterday, while at the park, I stopped by the gazebo to get my favorite park food, a cheese on a stick. Now I was able to get it, but they only sell as a "combo" package that includes a bag of potato chips. While I like potato chips, I did not want any, nor did I want to pay for them. Does anyone know why they're doing this?

Is it the same for cheese on a sticks at Frontier Food Company? What about at Happy Friar (they sell them there too, right?)? Does anyone know?

Sounds like you had a confused server.

They only list them on the menu in combos, but they are available separately as well. You just have to ask for them.

I don't know why, but I fully expected your post to read:

"Yesterday I found a hair in my cheese-on-a-stick. You have been warned..."

LOL!

Actually I was worried he was going to tell us our favorite park food was no more.

You were worried about Gourmet Pretzels being gone in a thread entitled "Cheese-on-a-stick alert"?

I think you need to get some sleep Ben.

When I went to the stands by DT last time I was there, I wanted the combo with the chips, but were told they were out. Even though the stand next to it had plenty, they wouldnt give us any chips. I think they took like $1 off the combo price.

What is cheese on a stick exactly? Last time I was at the Point was June 06. Cheese on a stick doesn't sound appetizing...

I don't remember what kind of cheese they use, but think Corn-dog with cheese instead of dog.

Wait - so that's why they gave it that name?

I think it's monteray jack. There's also the pepperjack option.

"Everyone that matters likes Cheese on a Stick" LOL!

It's white American or Pepper Jack, fried in the same batter as the corn dogs. It's much better when you can get it made with real swiss cheese, but it's still good at the park. (IF they cook it right) You can get it at the Frontier place in front of the Molly & Maverick show, or over next to the Space Spiral without chips.

Don't forget the mustard

I used to like cheese on a stick at the park until I found a batter recipe for it. I improved on the recipe so it tastes better than the parks when they actually cook theirs good. Though next time I make them I'll have to try swiss cheese. By real swiss do you mean real brand swiss cheese.

I usually go for pepper jack cheese. I've tried others but they have been marginally better at best.

Since we are on the topic... here is the company that supplies (or well did a few years ago, I'm guessing they still do) Cedar Point with cheese-on-a-stick supplies. You can buy a bag of the mixture and make your own at home.

^ THAT'S THE GUY!! Every year as a kid I would look forward to the fair just to go to the trailer with that Pronto Pup guy & get really good cheese on a stick! That picture brought back a lot of memories.

I get the best cheese on a stick made with swiss cheese at the Swiss Cheese Festival in the fall in SugarCreek Ohio. (You can eat it while you watch the yodeling (sp?) contest...I swear!) The batter they sell is rather high. Jump: can you share your recipe?

We were at CP yesterday and we didn't get our cheese on a stick fix. The first time we went to the stand by Maverick, they said the machine was broken or something like that. We went back later in the day and the stand was closed. I guess I'll have to wait until next year.

August 20, 2007, 8:27A

Well I refuse to buy another one until they sell it to me by itself!

Which might not be a problem because I probably won't be back there this year, haha.
