I have a reservation for a non smoking view room in the Bon Air Wing of the breakers. Is it really as bad as the reviews i've been reading online. About the worst reviews I've ever seen for a hotel calling it disgusting and smelly and uncomfortable. Is it really that bad? I'm not that picky but if it smells as bad as some say maybe it's a bad idea. Any feedback appreciated.

I've stayed in the Breakers several times before (not sure which wing) and I've never had any experience that I would describe as disgusting, smelly, or uncomfortable. I've certainly stayed in nicer places, don't get me wrong, but there was never a situation where I wish I hadn't stayed there for one reason or another. Pretty average experience, I guess.

The bon air section isn't all that bad. It will have a bit of a smell nothing all that bad though, just kind of musty. The rooms are generally kept clean. They could use a little updating on the beds and furniture though. Last time we stayed there the bed was a bit on the lumpy side. ( wasn't to happy about that considering the price.)

Though the Bon Air Wing isn't terrible, I prefer the Tower over it by far. It's decent, nothing more, nothing less.

The Bon Air wing was pretty disappointing the first time I stayed there, but if you compare the price to anywhere else at Breakers, it's a pretty good deal.

I'd compare it to a very old roadside motel. Strictly barebones, very worn feeling, dropped ceiling to hide old pipes, small crowded bathroom. Everything was clean though...

Just set your expectations very low and you'll be happy...

I think the issue most people have with it is that it just isn't a $180 room. It's much more of a roadside Holiday Inn type place. So while it is cheaper than other rooms at the hotel, it is more expensive than other rooms of the same quality elsewhere.

My word for the bon air section has always been dreadful. If you get the room for some ridiculously low price special, then by all means, stay there to enjoy a wonderful hotel in spite of the room. But if your paying top rates it is not at all worth it unless you don't mind outdated & musty.

Old, roadside motel pretty much sums it up. We booked there our first trip many years ago & asked to be transfered out immediatly to anything else available. Breakers is a wonderful hotel except for this area.

And just how far does the Bon Air wing go? I'm having a hard time remembering. I know it is those two small wings right off of the rotunda, but is there a lot more to it?

The Bon Aire section is the section on the other side of the tower the section closest to sandcastles suites. I don't think the wings off of the rotunda are considered the bon aire, they are just called the east and west wing.

I stayed in the Bon Air section opening weekend this year. I wasn't looking for anything special, just a room to stay in. Also, the fact that with coupons I got the room for 35 dollars a night also influenced my decision. The first 2 things that stood out to me were how dreary the hallway was, and the musty odor of the room. Although the smell was very noticeable at first, once I got the fan running in the room, and the air circulating, it wasn't as bad. The wallpaper in the bathroom was very outdated (70's color scheme with flowers), and the room had a serious lack of electrical outlets (only available outlets were in the bathroom). However, when it all came down to it, the bed was fairly comfortable, I had cable, and I had all the benefits of staying in the park for 35 a night. I could NEVER spend over 100 a night for those rooms, but if I could get my good deal again I would stay there a second time.

We were leary of staying at Breakers after what we had read, as well, but we ended up booking a room in the Tower section (lakeview suite) and it was fabulous. We walked through the Bon Air section, and though I can't say much about the rooms, it was a dimly lit area. It reminded me of a band camp we used to go to. lol

So I know what you guys think of the rooms in the Bon Aire sections but what about the main section. I have a reservation for a room with 1 king bed in the main section for June 25-27. What are your thoughts?

I've stayed in the 1 king rooms in the Main section and they are nice. The only downside is carrying your stuff up the stairs. I can't remember off hand if they come with fridges or not. That would be my only other complaint if they don't.

Concierge suite for me.. 10th floor, view of the park or lake, free wifi, wine, snacks and breakfast included. This is the best kept secret of the Breakers in my opinion. Can't beat it! The BonAir wing is a "value" priced wing. If you want to stay on the point this is the lowest cost way to go.

I usually stay in the tower section and share a room with my little sister. However, since she is engaged and sharing a room in the Sandcastle with her fiance this year, I am rooming by myself. Somehow, I cannot justify the added expense of the tower section for just me. I am going to try the main section. The description says it doesn't have a fridge and I did request first floor. Keeping my fingers crossed. This is going to be one hell of a family trip.

If you are staying on the first floor in the king room, also request that you don't want the room next to beaches and cream. There is all kinds of banging going on in there through the early part of the night.

We have stayed in the king rooms many times. It's an ok room, good enough for me to stay in there multiple times.

Just got back from the point yesterday. The one king room was just fine for just me. I'll definately stay there again. My room was even ready at 2:00 which is awesome. My aunt did stay in the Bon Aire section and it was fine but she was wishing she was in a different section because the room was not ready until 4:00 since it is the last section to be cleaned and the beds are actually double beds even though the description says queen.
