Hopefully they chane the auto-spiel from the one they had last year. Those high pitched voices, and the fact that the spiel was so long it didnt fit in the loading time was kind of annoying...

My signature was more than three lines!

Their autospiels suck. There's no nice way of putting it. The autospiel for Corkscrew should not take any longer than 24 seconds (the target dispatch time to meet for each load/unload interval). Of course they gave in and installed the orange seat belts of doom to totally screw any capacity or intervals.

You complain without knowing much of anything.

#1 They MUST say everything they say for legal reasons, they cannot cut it any shorter for that reason.

#2 It's an auto speil because the manual dictates that there is NOT to be a speiling postion, go complain to Arrow.

#3 The seatbelts were added for safety, not to piss you off, get over it. I had to deal with them being installed in the middle of the year, I was fine after a week.

Now, to counter your numerical list:

1: That's funny, I was able to get the legal speak out in :30 or less and it was audible. The auto-spiel was new in July of 2003 (or a month close to that). Employees were responsible for spieling before then. I believe we measured the length of the auto-spiel to be 1:30. That's just shy of the 1:45 measured ride length.

2: Maybe you should go back and read the old manuals. There used to be 2 spieling positions. Hell, the MIC ports should still be there unless they pulled them out. The spieling position were at Unload 1 and at Controls:

- Unload 1 would be responsible for the air gates, spieling, and checking car 1. Unload 2 would be responsible for cars 2 & 3, and Unload 3 would take 4-6

- If there were some staffing problems, Control would take the spieling responsibilities while Unload 1 would cover the first 3 cars with Unload 2 (or 3, depending on how you consider it) would take the last 3.

3: Tell me why seat belts need to be added to a ride that had NO restraint problems/accidents? Have you noticed that orange belts show up everywhere they aren't needed? We operated fine without them in 2003. The only real benefit I can see to the trains over what they were in '03 are the restraints "popping up." No springs were installed in 2003.

Here's another question: How many people were injured by the seatbelt while you worked there? On my visit as a guest last year I counted 5 people getting smacked by the belts in the 10 minutes I was in the station.

There are several reasons that the auto-spiel was added at both Corkscrew and Iron Dragon. When Arrow was taken over by S&S, they restricted spieling on Arrow coasters from controls. Also due to ride popularity, positions were also cut. There is no need for an Unload 1 to check only 1 car and spiel when you can have an auto-spiel and they can check 3 cars. It just makes more sense that way and saves payroll. It was discussed about having a headset for spieling but wasn't budgeted and also it may have been too close to other rides to work without interferance. As for the length of the spiel it doesn't matter much that every train leaving the station hears it, but that everyone hears it at least once while waiting the board the train so the length isn't really that important.

It's obvious why seatbelts have been added. They give that extra sense of security and safety to guests that don't understand the other safety components of the ride. Yes CP maint. made a bad choice in positioning of the belts, but it was done quickly with little budget. At other CF parks they are different and maybe CP will change Corkscrews to match those, who knows. Only guest complaints can really change that at this point in time and for the most part I only see those complaints on sites like this one. Most guests just laugh it off.

Different like Corkscrew at ValleyFair!? Those were the most pathetic I've seen. Easier to buckle than CP's, yes, but really sad. Basically mounted in reverse, pull the belt out of your crotch and buckle to your harness, but its retractable, and about a yard long. It made me laugh seeing people push up their harness at the end of the ride, to have a long orange belt also get pulled up with it.

I liked the guy who did the auto-spiels a couple years ago, think there are some rides yet who have this other gentleman,who i liked much better,i could be all wet,but i thought the gentleman did an excelent job,why they ever changed to a hi pitch girl beets me,the gentleman im talking about did the TTD opening,and the safety of the ride, if anybody knows who he is. Just my opinion. :-)

So I'm confused... what rides have autospiel anymore, if any? I know at SF Magic Mountain (my home park until now) a few coasters had it but the ride ops would spiel anyways after it.

Also, if there's one thing I've always loved to do, it's spieling

Just as an FYI, this thread is about 10 months old...

But to answer your question, I don't think any rides have automated spiels anymore. The last two rides to have them were Iron Dragon and Corkscrew, but I believe they're gone from there now too.

WildCat HAS one that still works...but, they usually have it switched off. Doug, were you there when the tech guy turned it on and left the switch turned on? Haha.

We still have an Auto Spiel at Blue Streak, but we never use it because it's much easier to just spiel over the PA.

No. Of course, its annoying beyond belief, so if someone flips the switch in the morning, they get to open entrance.
