I have concluded that I will be working at Cedar Point during the summer of '07 and/or '08 and beyond. I know that is a while away, but I figure that it is good to know my options well ahead of time.

Does anyone happen to have any pictures of any of the housing units at the Point, specifically the individual rooms? I have considered staying at Cedars, due to its close proximity to the park and the low cost. Is staying at Cedars a common first year's mistake, as I have heard other places? I will be spending a very minimal amount of time in the room (only to sleep), so would that be the logical choice?

Housing is okay for 20 years ago and earlier. Now it depends if you can stand living in such crampt quarters. Even Cedars isn't too bad to actually just sleep in.

To be honest, the housing turns many people to process out right after arriving to work.

Really? I have heard others say that, but I just figured it was a bit of an exageration. I would spend the majority of my free time either sitting on the beach or just roaming the park and riding rides as I please, so do you think Cedars would be the most logical choice for me?

Do you generally get two or three roomates? 3 people in one of those little rooms seems oftly cramped, but I suppose I could deal with it considering I'll be living at my favorite place in the world.

Just get a Commons dorm room. Trust me. Even if you won't spend much time there, the A/C is nice, especially when you nap on your split shifts.

Sure, housing is kind of cramped, but to just process out upon seeing it? Pfft. Those kinds of people must not have wanted the job that bad.

^I don't know - I wouldn't have started my new job if I would have observed the office conditions for more than 5 minutes, and I wanted the job, BAD.

Hmm..so judging by the opinions that I have gathered from around the site, it seems that a person either loves or hates Cedars, besides a few mediocre opinions. I guess that since I have been looking forward to this job for quite a long time that I will not have a problem with Cedars, so I'm thinking that that will be my first choice, followed by Commons.

All I can remember thinking when I stepped out of Cedars for the last time was thinking "I'll never, ever walk back into this place again. Ever."

If you work as hard as I did, and as many hours, you won't be spending much time on the beach (if at all!) or strolling the park (in the hot sun!)...you'll sleep on your time off. Sounds glamorous, I know.

When I was in Cedars, on my breaks, trying to catch some sleep...I also can remember how that was: me, sitting on the dirty floor (we washed it many times, and black black black came up) and sitting three fans right in front of me...and still sweating. *** Edited 3/28/2006 8:53:05 PM UTC by Anonymous***

My friend who lived in Cedars last year said that they started offering AC window units to individual rooms, but you had to pay like 70 bucks or something to get it. I have no clue if this is true or if they will be doing it again this year.

I am unsure of how much it was, but they did offer A/C units (you pay for installation and usage) for the Cedars and Gold dorms. They helped tremendously.

Cedars isn't that bad. All Cedar Point housing basically stinks but your not planning on living there forever. The main problem nowadays with Cedars is it is not open for all the season. In the good old days Cedars was open for the whole season. It opened a week before opening day and stayed open until the Monday after closing day. Granted this was before Halloweekends kept the park open later but it was nice to not have to move. Moving up here sucks. Some housing people can be rude. Another nice thing about Cedars is that a lot of your roommates move out when openings off point come up and you may luck out and have your own room for a good part of the season. It does get hot sometimes but the lounge is air conditioned and when it gets unbearable just do down and sit for a while. Just don't fall asleep.

Bringa good fan. They do let people have air conditioners but like others said you have to pay some money but that is up to you. Rememeber Cedars is less out of your check.

Commons is OK but the apartments are horrible. I would rather sleep in my car. The dorms out here are the best. And the rec center out here is nice place to hang out.

At Cedar Point you do work a lot of hours and all but there will be times in the season when you don't so housing is something to really think about. How Cedar Point is a great place you can get sick of it like any place else. Believe housing problems can ruin a good experience. Having a car helps you can just getaway for a while.

Ah, cool. Thanks for the info. It seems to me that I will have more free time than I do now between work and school, consider I am at school 35 hours per week (five 7-hour days), I work 20 hours per week, and spend about 2 hours per night doing homework. That adds up to 65 hours per week, and I still manage to go out and have a good time a few days per week.

Does the AC really make a huge difference? I am hearing that it is like heaven coming back into a very cool room after a long day.

I'm sure the AC would be a very wise investment. Those hot muggy days where the air doesn't seem to move are inevitable.

I lived in Cedars for two summers. Although it is nasty, it definitley has its perks. I lived in the commons dorms for two summers as well. The AC was pretty nice... except for when maintenance pounded on everyones door early one morning because they had to replace all of the filters or something. One plus for commons is their convience store, which unlike the munchery in cedars, is open 24 hours. Great for when you get a craving for burritos at 3 in the morning.

Well, I have to say that Cedars is sounding more and more suitable for me. Commons does seem like a nice place to live as well, though. Ahh, I can't decide. Maybe I will just wait until that day that I process in and see what is available at that time and make a decision on the spot.

The Commons Apartments.... worth it. I saw that there are 9-16 people living with u. In ONE ROOM?!?!?! thats a little uncomfortable..... where is the best place to live while employed? Or is it better to get your own apartment elsewhere?

I stayed in the Commons Apartments last summer and we had 14 guys and it's spread out among 5 bedrooms, 4 have 3 beds while the 5th had 4 beds. There are two bathrooms, for a total of two showers, two toilets and 4 sinks(never had a problem getting in the shower in the mornings). There is a big closet in the hallway and the living room is like a prison. They advertise that they AC, which they do but it is a window unit stuck in the wall of the living room and it does not reach the bedrooms nor can you feel it when there is anyone in the livingroom. The kitchen part of the livingroom has a fridge a stove top (no oven) and a sink. And there is cable in the living room as well. The rooms get very hot and you can't get AC for them like at Cedars/Gold, because the windows are different, but I must have sweat off like 15 lbs.

This summer I am staying in the Commons Dorms due to the AC mainly. Sure it will be cramped but I have a friend staying in an apartment and we'll hang out at her place because it has more room. It's also nice to get off the point at night, and on some days off.

There is also Bayside, but I don't know a thing about them.
